I've been a maker since I can remember. My first creative project most likely involved constructing something out of acorns, flower petals, and moss. My previous careers include elementary and middle school teacher, bartender, managing editor at Simon & Schuster Children’s Books, and a freelance writer and editor. I am the mother of two amazing teenage boys. I am simply a human being, a mother, an artist, and a lover of words, magic, and kindness.
In 2010, sensing a need in my community to make creative expression more accessible, I founded BraveGirlsArt, a venture that has since been folded into The Creativity Caravan, the small business I co-founded in 2013 with my partner, Maya Stein. The Creativity Caravan is a creative arts studio, gallery space, and "imaginarium." Our programs are centered on the joy of discovery and power of collaborative learning, and we offer art and writing experiences, as well as other events and creative opportunities, for kids and adults of all ages and abilities. Our space is located in Montclair, New Jersey, but we are passionate about traveling in our 1972 caravan and bringing creativity to communities everywhere.
“Tingle” was actually my middle name at birth. Somewhere along the way I decided it suited me better than my original last name and moved it front and center. If you really knew me you'd know I love Nutella, a glass of bourbon neat, and spaghetti with meatballs. You'd also know that my sheroes are Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the poets Dorianne Laux, Mary Oliver, & Ellen Bass, and anyone who speaks out against injustice and inequality. I used to be a pretty wicked ping-pong player, and with a little practice I could probably still surprise you with my backhand. I cut and paste and create in Nutley, New Jersey.
